City Fish Market -- Wethersfield, CT

My food blog begins with our trip to Connecticut visiting family.

We landed at Bradley Airport and stopped here for lunch on the way to Bill’s parents’ house. It is a fish market first and a restaurant second; there is a small take-out counter and dining area on the side of an open area with tanks of live fish and crustaceans. I had the soft shell crab, and Bill had the clam strips.

We were both disappointed in our meals: We tasted more of the fried coating than we did the seafood. The paper dishes they’re served in boast something like, “Eat fish, your heart will thank you,” though with most of the lunch offerings fried or in a mayonnaise-based salad, that’s a pretty false statement. If we go back, we’ll be sure to ask what they offer grilled. (However, it seems like a great place for locals to buy fresh seafood to prepare at home.)
